What is IUI?
Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is a fertility treatment in which washed and prepared sperm are placed directly into the uterus around the time of ovulation.
It is sometimes combined with medicines that help the ovaries release an egg. The procedure itself takes a few minutes and does not need anaesthesia.
Who may need it?
IUI may be suggested for unexplained infertility, mild male-factor infertility, ovulation problems or cervical factors, and for couples using donor sperm.
